Summary:
For individuals who hold a valid RHCSA and can demonstrate the knowledge, skill and ability required of senior system administrator for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.

Initial Requirements:
You must hold a valid RHCSA and pass the performance-based RHCE exam ($400). It doesn't matter which order you take them but you must pass them both to earn RHCE.

The RHCE exam has a 2 hour time limit and performance-based (i.e. performing actual tasks on a live system, not multiple choice). Recently Red Hat has begun making individual lab exam sessions available through remote kiosks instead of requiring a trip to a Red Hat classroom. A list of kiosk locations can be found on Red Hat's website.

You must hold an RHCE in order to take any of the Red Hat Certificate of Expertise exams or other higher-level Red Hat credentials such as Red Hat Certified Architect.

Continuing Requirements:
RHCEs, who are certified on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, will have a current status for 3 calendar years after it is earned. This current window can be extended by earning additional Red Hat credentials.
